One hundred and five Police officers have been tested positive for the COVID-19 virus so far, the National Operations Center for Preventing of COVID-19 (NOCPCO) said.
According to the NOCPCO, ten officers were identified as infected yesterday. Two Police officers each from Colombo Crime Division, Modara Police and Dematagoda Police and one Police officer each from Port Police, Maligawatta Police, Maradana Police and Grandpass Police have been diagnosed with the COVID-19, source said. All associates of those police officers have been quarantined.
Also, a female police officer of the Colombo Crimes Divisions in Dematagoda has tested positive for the COVID-19. Following that, about 235 police officers have been placed quarantined at the woman barracks in Malalasekara Mawatha in Colombo where the female police officer was staying. The number of officers infected with Covid-19 from the Colombo Crimes Division is 26 so far.
