Seven more COVID-19 cases found in Galle

Seven persons who were being quarantined at the Habaraduwa and Koggala Quarantine Centres and one person from Balapitiya tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, Galle District Regional Epidemiologist Venura K. Singarachchi said.

Three positive cases reported from the Habaraduwa Quarantine Centre maintained by the Police are found to be linked to Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster and are residents of Balapitiya. Two men who were confirmed to be infected with the disease from the same centre are from Minuwangoda. Two persons of the Minuwangoda garment factory who were also quarantined at the quarantine centre at a Koggala hotel have tested positive for the disease. Meanwhile, an 87-year-old woman who is an associate of Colombo Dockyard COVID-19 cluster has been detected as a coronavirus patient, Dr. Singarachchi said.

"The six male COVID-19 patients were sent to the Hambantota hospital while the two sick women were referred to Neville Fernando Hospital," the epidemiologist further said.
