BASL requests Police to recognise lawyers’ ID as a curfew pass

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has sent a letter to the Acting Inspector General of Police requesting to recognise BASL identify card as a curfew pass when traveling to perform their professional duties.

In a letter under the signatures of BASL President Kalinga Indatissa PC and its Secretary Rajiv Amarasuriya stated that members of the legal profession will face a lot of hardships as they will be unable to travel to areas where there is no curfew curfew in operation as at present. Accordingly, BASL is requesting to recognise BASL identify cards as a curfew pass wherever a member has to leave a curfew imposed area and proceed to a non curfew area of professional work previously undertaken.

The BASL also appreciates the role played by police in combating the spreading of Covid-19.
