The Galle Imaduwa Police arrested five persons for allegedly gang raping a 21-year-old married woman.
The arrested persons are of the ages of 18, 19, 20, 24 and 30 years respectively
"The victim's husband works in Colombo and she was residing in Imaduwa which is her husband’s native village after marriage. It is also alleged that she had an affair with another youth from the village," Police investigations reveal.
Subsequently, the youth had once visited his mistress in the absence of her husband and had raped her while his friend had recored it. Thereafter, the next day the suspect had come with another four friends of his and raped her. Accordingly, Imaduwa Police who are investigating into the complaint arrested the five suspects. The suspects were to be produced before courts on completion of the investigations. A team of officers led by Imaduwa OIC IP Upul Kumara made the arrest.
