Another 16 COVID-19 patients detected in Biyagama

Another 16 COVID-19 patients were detected in the Biyagama Health Division yesterday out of which 14 are close contacts and two are said to be outsiders. The infected people who are residents of the Makola and Patitivila areas were detected after PCR tests were conducted at the Mawaramandiya weekly market last weekend.

Another employee of a company in the Biyagama Free Trade Zone was diagnosed with COVID-19 yesterday.

At present there are about 170 COVID-19 infected people in the Biyagama Health Division and more than half of them are under self-quarantine. PCR tests were conducted at the Biyagama Primary School Sports Ground 3rd of this month. At least 102 PCR tests were carried out at the Mawaramandiya weekly fair yesterday.

This was confirmed by Biyagama Administrative Public Health Inspector Samantha Perera yesterday. Biyagama Medical Officer of Health Muditha Menike and Administrative Public Health Inspector Samantha Perera and other Public Health Inspectors are supervising the operation.
