Five suspects were arrested with an axe, a knife, and a sickle by the Tangalle Criminal Investigation Division from Morayaya in Weeraketiya, on Wednesday, in connection with an incident in which two people were hacked to death and four others were critically injured.
The two who were killed in the attack were Kalu Devage Arjuna, a 37-year-old father of four; and Karalahin Gamage Pasindu Dineth, a 17-year-old G.C.E. Advanced Level student at the Mandaduwa Maha Vidyalaya in Weeraketiya.
The injured are still receiving treatment at the Tangalle Base Hospital. Investigations are continuing.
