Two hundred persons, 18 vehicles in custody yesterday

Two hundred persons were arrested for violating quarantine curfew yesterday, Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said that 18 vehicles were also taken into custody.

About 2, 393 persons and 356 vehicles were taken into custody so far, he added.

The quarantine curfew is in 112 Police Divisions in the Western Province, Kuliyapitiya, Eheliyagoda and Kurunegala Municiple Council Division and the Giriulla, Emmathagama, Mawanella, Bulathkohupitiya and Galigamuwa Pradeshiya Sabhas have been isolated, he said.

He requested residents of the areas under the quarantine curfew to support the police and health authorities to control the pandemic by adhering to the health guidelines.

Legal action will be taken against those who violate the quarantine curfew, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
