Five COVID deaths yesterday

Death toll rises to 29

Another five persons were reported dead due to COVID-19 virus yesterday, raising the overall death toll to 29, the Government Information Department said.

Director General of Health Services Asela Gunawardena confirmed the four deaths reported from Colombo and the other death reported from Wellampitiya. Accordingly, a 46-year-old resident of Colombo 2 died while receiving treatment at the Pimbura Base Hospital. He had tested positive for the coronavirus and was also a kidney patient.

The second COVID 19 related death reported yesterday was a 68-year-old resident of Wellampitiya. She died after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital due to a chest pain.

The third coronavirus death reported was that of a 58-year-old female from Colombo 12. She had died while at home and a PCR test confirmed she was a COVID-19 positive patient.

The fourth death was a 73 year-old female from Colombo 14. She had also died at home and a PCR test confirmed she had the coronavirus.The fifth death reported yesterday was that of a 74 year-old resident of Colombo 15. He had also died at home and a PCR test confirmed he was a coronavirus patient.
