Electricity for 7,000 houses in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu districts

Chief Government Whip and Highways Minister Johnston Fernando yesterday said that the Government would take speedy measures to provide electricity access to around 7,000 houses in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts.

He was addressing a District Committee Meeting held at the Jaffna District Secretariat yesterday.

This is the part of a national programme to the rural economy. The Committee meeting was attended by both Government and Opposition MPs representing Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts.

During the meeting, both Government and the Opposition MPs requested the relevant authorities to take immediate steps to provide electricity to people in both the districts.

The Minister said that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Power Minister Dullas Alahapperuma would be informed about their request and urgent measures taken to fulfill the necessity. He further said the government is committed to fulfill the fundamental needs of the people irrespective of their ethnicity, religion and cast.
