Several body parts of a missing fisherman were found by residents of the area in a thicket in Unakooruwain in the Tangalle Police Division, Tangalleh police said.
Police said that the relatives of the missing person had lodged a complaint that the man had been missing since January 28.
The Tangalle magistrate visited the location where the body parts were found and held the magisterial inquiry. Police said that a wallet and a national identity card were found from the location.
The missing person had been identified as Warnakulasooriya Patabedige Neil Eranda (38). Tangalle OIC Vajira Indrajith and a team of police officers are investigating.
