‘Over 2,000 quarantined in Anuradhapura’

Anuradhapura District Health Services Director Dr. N.C. D. Ariyaratne said that 2,040 persons of 1,015 families have been directed to quarantine and 3,733 PCR tests were carried out, but COVID-19 infected persons were not detected.

He was speaking at a meeting at the Anuradhapura District COVID -19 Prevention Committee chaired by North Central Province Governor Mahipala Herath and Anuradhapura Government Agent R.M Wanninayake at the North Central Provincial Council Auditorium.

Dr. N.C. D Ariyaratne said that seven persons tested positive for COVID-19 in thye Anuradhapura District. About 2,040 of 1015 families have been sent for quarantine. Sixty nine patients were sent from outside the province to the Methsiri Sevana Hospital and 24 women and 20 children to the Nochchiyagama Hospital.

Anuradhapura Chief Government Agent R.M. Wanninayake said that visitors to the district have been restricted. “The inter-provincial bus service has been suspended. Dry food bags worth Rs 10,000 will be provided for the home-quarantined. Goods for these persons will be provided in accordance with the reports of Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) and Medical Officers of Health (MOHs)," he said.
