President, PM congratulate US President-elect, VP

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa were among the stream of world leaders to congratulate US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their victory in the 2020 US Presidential election.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa while congratulating the US President elect and his running mate Kamala Harris said that he hoped to work closely with Joe Biden.

The President in a tweet said that he looked forward to working closely with the new US President to strengthen the bilateral relations.

“The Government & the people of Sri Lanka join me in extending our warmest congratulations to President- elect @joeBiden and Vice [email protected] on this historic victory.

“We look forward to working together towards an even more robust mutually rewarding partnership”, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa tweeted.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaska also congratulated the US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their crucial victory in the US Presidential election.

The Premier also tweeted that he is also looking forward to further enhance the bilateral relations to benefit people of both countries.

“Congratulations to [email protected] and VP [email protected] on your victory. As we mark the 72 years of diplomatic relations between our two countries, I look forward to working with both of you to further enhance Sri Lanka-USA relations to benefit both our peoples”, the Premier tweeted. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa was also among the politicians who joined in congratulating the US President elect and the Vice President election.

“My warmest congratulations to @JoeBiden on your historic victory on being elected & my best wishes as you prepare to serve in the highest Office. I wish you & Vice President - elect @KamalaHarris”, he tweeted
