Pirith ceremony, alms giving to mark D. A. Rajapaksa’s 53rd death anniversary commemoration

A Pirith ceremony followed by an alms giving was held on Saturday at the Medamulana ancestral home of the Rajapaksa family to bestow merits on late D. A. Rajapaksa to mark his 53rd death anniversary commemoration with the participation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Ministers Chamal Rajapaksa, Namal Rajapaksa, former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, MP Nipuna Ranawaka and family members.

The family members lit oil lamps at the D. A. Rajapaksa memorial at Medamulana and paid floral tributes.

The Pirith chanting was held by the Ven. Middeniye Indraratana Thera, Ven. Sapugahayaye Dhammaratana Thera and Ven. Wakamulle Chandrawimala Thera. Members of the Maha Sangha headed by Ven. Dewalegama Dhammasena Thera, Viharadipathi Tissamaharama Raja Maha Viharaya were present.
