Development projects to benefit all - Lanza

The Government's development projects will benefit all Sri Lankans, regardless of party affiliation, said State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure Nimal Lanza.

The State Minister was speaking while inaugurating rural road development projects in the Vavuniya District on November 7.

Accordingly, under the National Programme for the Development of 100,000 Kilometres of rural roads, the development of 3 Km of Pampa Madu-Kadipa Kapuram and 1.7 Km of Palamaikkal-Nelukkulam Rural Roads has begun. The amount allocated for this is Rs.127 million.

Lanza said a good road network is essential in order to help farmers transport their produce to the market in time. Realizing this, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa promised the people to develop 100,000 Km of rural roads. The government hopes to strengthen the rural economy by achieving that goal.

The Government has made it a priority to strengthen the local economy through the promotion of local products.

State Minister Lansa said development work will be carried forward despite the country having to face the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vavuniya District Parliamentarian Cader Mastan, Secretary to the Ministry of Highways R.W.R. Pemasiri, Secretary to the Ministry of Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake and Road Development Authority officials were present.
