GMOA concerned about PCR results of Horana factory workers

Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) General Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge yesterday said that the delay in issuing the PCR test results of employees attached to a well known garment factory has triggered serious issues.

“The number of COVID-19 patients reported from the well-known garment factory in Horana is on the increase day-by-day, and a delay in PCR test results has turned the situation from bad to worse,” he said.

He said that the company had issued a statement citing that 3,000 out of more than 5,000 employees in the factory, have undergone PCR tests.

“Nearly half of those reports are yet to come,” Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.

He said that this delay has made the areas where these employees come from, vulnerable to the pandemic. “Although some test reports had been taken nearly a week ago, the results have not been received as yet and further decisions could not be taken on the basis of such old data,” Dr. Haritha Aluthge further said.
