Chief Government Whip and Highways Minister Johnston Fernando yesterday directed the Road Development Authority (RDA) Chairman and the Maga Neguma Road Construction and Machinery Company Chairman to take immediate steps to repair the machinery, which are decaying at RDA regional depots and at the Maga Neguma Company and use them to carry out countrywide road projects.

The Minister said that it is a national crime to leave the machinery to decay and instructed the Chairmen to submit a full report on the vehicles including their values.

The Minister was inspecting several RDA regional offices and the Maga Neguma Company yesterday.

Minister Johnston inspected cars, cabs, jeeps, tippers, excavators, and other machinery that have been used to rehabilitate roads idling at the depots.
