Five COVID deaths yesterday, total 41

Another five coronavirus linked deaths were reported yesterday bringing the pandemic death toll to 41.

Government Information Director General Nalaka Kaluwewa said Health Services Director General Dr.Asela Gunawardena confirmed the five deaths reported from Colombo and Gampaha districts.

A 51-year-old male from Rajagiriya area had died while receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital and the cause of death has been determined as COVID-19 related pneumonia.

The second death reported yesterday was a 45-year-old resident in the Colombo 10 area. According to reports, he was also receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital since October 23. He had died of respiratory tract infection caused by COVID-19.

The third person who died of the virus was a 63-year-old female from the Gampaha district. Her cause of death was determined as novel coronavirus infection related pneumonia and she was also receiving treatment at the Gampaha District hospital.

The fourth victim, suspected to be aged between 55 to 60 was an unidentified male. His remains were referred to the post-mortem examination on November 8 and was posthumously declared to be infected with COVID-19. The fifth victim from Ragama is 55 years old.
