Three inmates of the Boossa Prison tested positive for COVID-19, Galle District Regional Epidemiologist Venura K. Singakkara said.
The suspects have been sent to Boossa Prison to be quarantined for 14 days before they were remanded. About five prisoners have been selected randomly and subjected to PCR tests daily. The three inmates were found infected with the virus in the random tests, the Epidemiologist said.
They were to be sent to the Kandakadu COVID Treatment Centre, he said.
Forty eight high risk prisoners are at the Boossa High Security Prison and 412 were in its general section, Prison sources said.
