A disease has spread in the cinnamon cultivations in the Southern Province.

It is known as Kola Pulli (blight disease). Cinnamon cultivators said that the disease spreads among cinnamon plants’ leaves.

They said black dots appear on the leaves as a result. Cinnamon is cultivated widly in the Matara, Kalutara and Ratnapura districts.

Meanwhile, the cultivators in the Hambantota District are growing other crops since they have not been provided with any help by the relevant authorities to grow cinnamon.
