Appropriation Bill 2020 passed with amendments

The 2020 Appropriation Bill was passed in Parliament without a vote yesterday (12). The Appropriation Bill was taken up for debate yesterday morning following the budget speech presented by the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill was passed without a vote post marking the objection extended by the Opposition. Following the Second Reading, the Third Reading was passed without a vote with many amendments added.

Accordingly, the 2021 Appropriation Bill is scheduled to be presented in Parliament on November 17, by the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mahinda Rajapaksa and the budget debate will continue until December 10.
