Road development projects commence in Puttalam District

State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure Nimal Lanza inaugurated road development activities in the Puttalam District on Saturday launching another step in the national programme to develop 100,000 Kilometres of road.

Accordingly, the Wennappuwa Gin Oya Bolawatta Dankotuwa Road, Wennappuwa Kirimetiyana Road and Tabbowa Koswatta Bothalegama Road will be carpeted.

Under these three rural road projects, a distance of 5.59 Km will be carpeted and Rs.132.21 million has been allocated for it.

"Road development activities are being carried out following health and safety measures in the face of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the country. In the past, only 2,000 km of roads were built every year during road development. But, next year, we target to complete another 30,000 Kms of road construction under the 100,000 Km national programme.a to develop the rural roads requested by the people of the country will be fulfilled within the next four years," State Minister Lansa said.
