SLCBFA, Chinese Embassy launch project to aid Buddhist templesttttttbbggg temples

The Sri Lanka-China Buddhist Friendship Association (SLCBFA), with financial assistance from the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, commenced a programme to donate dry rations and hand sanitizers to Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka.

Phase I of this programme commenced last Saturday, with the donation of dry rations and hand sanitizers to the Chief Prelate of the Kotte Chapter of the Siyam Maha Nikaya, Most Ven. Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara Thera, at Sri Wijayalokaramaya Temple in Rukmalgama, Pannipitiya, by Sumathi Dharmawardena (PC), President of SLCBFA. Aruna Silva, General Secretary; and K.G. Chandrasiri, Assistant Treasurer of SLCBFA; were present at the event.

Most Ven. Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara Thera, speaking at the occasion, thanked the Embassy of China in Sri Lanka, the Buddhist community in China, and the Sri Lanka-China Buddhist Friendship Association (SLCBFA) for assisting Buddhist temples to overcome the hardships faced due to the COVD-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, SLCBFA Vice-Presidents Ajith Dharmawardena and Susantha Balapatabendi (PC) donated dry rations and hand sanitizers to Buddhist temples in the Borella , Nawala, and Rajagiriya areas. Donations were made to Buddhist temples in the Colombo and Gampaha areas as well.

Phase I of this programme will cover Buddhist temples in the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts. Thereafter, Phase II will cover the Kurunegala, Kandy, Matale, Kegalle, and Anuradhapura districts. The final phase will cover Buddhist temples in the rest of the districts in Sri Lanka.
