Religious amity

‘Mosque visiting school children’ a unique interfaith initiative where students of other faiths are invited to visit the mosque to learn about the practices of the religion was initiated recently. Students of other religions visited the Dehiwala Mohideen Jumma Mosque in October. St Mary’s School, Dehiwala, Principal and the Mosque Trustee Board organized the visit.

Moulavi Anwer, who addressed the students expressed the hope that the idea of opening up religious sites to learn about different religions will develop with time. St Mary’s Principal Rev Mariym Fernando thanked the Mosque Trustee, and the Mosque Moulavi Anwer for supporting this useful initiative. Most of the students have visited a mosque for the first time in their life.

They were able to learn about the structure and features of the religious site through observation.
