Fourth year player, Coloursman, left hand opening batsman, occasional right arm off spin bowler and a safe fielder Hettiyahandi Buddhi Erandika will be captaining the first eleven cricket team of Devananda College, Ambalangoda in the forthcoming inter school first eleven cricket season and his deputy will be Pasindu Dananjaya.

This year Devananda team is consisted with six senior players. Buddhi commenced his school career from Devananda in 2008 when Mr. Suriyaarachchi was at the helm of the school and Buddhi’s first teacher was Mrs. Pushpa. Following his father’s and elder brother’s foot steps he attended under 13 cricket practices in 2013 and came under Suraj Sanjeewa. Buddhi’s father Kumara de Silva represented Devananda in the first eleven team and later Sri Lanka Air Force and his elder brother Sakun Kanchana captained in 2015. Presently Sakun is doing his higher studies in Australia and playing club cricket too.

Buddhi played for the division two team of under 13 in 2013 and in 2014 he was the Vice Captain of the team and played in sevenmatches and in 2015 he captained the team and could not come up to expectations. His final year in the under 15 was in 2016 and he scored 160 runs with a fifty against Tissa Central, Kalutara. In the following year he captained the team and passed the 200 mark and played in the Prima Cup for Galle District. His under 17 first year was in 2018 and he scored 420 runs with two fifties and his highest score being 72 runs versus Karandeniya Central. Leading the team in his second year he collected 238 runs.

His first eleven cricket season was in 2017/18 and he played in three matches and in the following year he scored 360 runs in nine matches. He played for the Big Match and the one dayer against their arch rivals Darmashoka College. In the last season he scored 530 runs with three fifties and made the top score of 82 against Anuradhapura Central and due to Corona they could not play the Big Match and the Limited Over in 2020. During this period his coach is P. Milton and the Master in Charge is Rohana Chandra and Prefect of Games is Mrs. Sriyalatha. In addition to cricket he represented his Alma Mater in Chess from Grade 6 to 10 and has won school Chess Colours too.
