Former CFC Chairman nabbed for fraud

A former Chairman of the Ceylon Fertiliser Company was arrested yesterday by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for an alleged financial fraud amounting to around Rs. 90 million, the Police said.

The Police Media Unit said the suspect was arrested by the CID over allegations of an alleged financial fraud committed in the purchase of fertiliser from a private company.

The Police said the suspect had been the Chairman of the company from 2017 to 2019.

The suspect had been arrested subsequent to a complaint lodged in January and a CID probe.

He is to be produced in Court, the Police said.
