Thanushi Nimansala Rodrigo, an advanced level student of Mahamaya Girls College,Kandy is one of the most experienced Table Tennis players of the school. She started playing Table tennis in the year 2014 at the age of nine years under the coaching of her father,Chaminda Rodrigo(presently National TT Coach of Maldives) Gayan Liyanage and Buddhika Dikkumbura were her TT Coaches in School. Her first tournament was the All Island schools table tennis Championship organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Table tennis Association under 13 age group and she became ‘A’division champion. She did not stop at that level she won the under 16 and under 18 events in 2019 and she was adjudged the Best Woman TT Player and Thanushi won a Gold Medal at this tournament.

She was really into Table Tennis at this time and won tournament after tournament and at the Junior National Meet in 2010 she won the Singles title and was ranked first.

But due to her studies she did not show outstanding performances from 2011 and was placed third at the Junior Nationals in that year at the All Island ranking Tournament. But she became under 18 Champion at the Colombo Mayor’s Cup open All Island Ranking Championship and was adjudged the most outstanding Woman Table tennis player in the year 2015.

Thanushi continued participating at TT tournaments and became Singles Champion as well as Doubles champion at the Chief Ministers(WP) Junior ranking Tournament . At that time she participated not only in local tournaments but many tournaments held abroad. At the start she won a Silver Medal at the Junior Cadet Open ITTF Gold Series Tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand and again won a Silver Medal for her team at a similar Tournament held In New Delhi.

In the year 2017 she participated at the South Asian Cadet and Junior Championship held in Colombo and won a Silver Medal. She toured Busan Korea to represent Sri Lanka at the 23rd Asian Cadet and Junior TT Tournament in the same year and gained more experience in the game Again she was selected to represent Sri Lanka at the South Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship held in 2018 and she was selected to the National TT team to participate in the TT tournament held in Kathmandu,Nepal in 2019.

She was selected for the 24th Asian championship and Commonwealth Championship in the same year and also the 25th Asian Junior Cadet Table Tennis Championship. Early this year she got the opportunity to participate at the World Team Table Tennis Championship held in Busan.
