Rotaract Club of Pearl Island impacts over 10 000 lives

Two weeks of intense projects came to an end with Endgame, which was held on September 20, at Royal MAS Arena under the patronage of Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Namal Rajapaksa. .It marked the end of the two- week long Titan Game Series, which was a series of challenges focused around creating a sustainable Sri Lanka and on many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It consisted of over 50 beach clean ups, over 250 projects done by 50 teams and more than 2000 volunteers.

Through the Titan Games Series, over 80 000 PET bottles were collected from shores across Sri Lanka via various Rotary, Rotaract, Interact, Leo, Lions Clubs and even school Prefects’ boards. This project has also covered all 17 SDGs and the six Rotary Focus areas whilst uplifting over 10 000 lives. The Title Partner for the project was Coca Cola Sri Lanka.

The Titan Games Series was organized by the Rotaract Club of Pearl Island and occurred during September 5 - 20. To conclude the grand project, Rotaract Club of Pearl Island organized Endgame which was an entertainment night with dance battles and local artistes such as Voice Teen sensation Madhuvy, Funky dirt, Hiranya, Harshana, Beat Bullets, Blaze, Shanny, Dishan Navodya and Theekshana Dewanmini, entertaining the crowd.

Endgame was also an awards night where awards were awarded to the overall champions of the Titan Games Series and titles such as Most Outstanding Coastal Clean Up Initiative, Most Innovative Coastal Clean Up Initiative, Most Outstanding PET collection Initiative, Most Outstanding Community Service Initiative, Widest Coastal Coverage Effort, Most Number of Projects, Most Innovative and Sustainable Green Life Initiative, Most Impactful Project (Citizen Responsibility), Most Outstanding Digital Communications Effort, TitansX and People’s Choice Award were awarded as well.

The overall champions were the Hindu Ladies’ College Board of Prefects while the Rotaract Club of SLIIT and Rotaract Club of Manipay became the first and second runners up respectively.

Titan Game Series was held with the vision of ‘Service Above Self’, which is the motto of Rotary. The project aimed at not only creating a sustainable Sri Lanka, promoting sustainable living and consumerism or spreading awareness on the SDGS, but to also create a networking opportunity for like-minded community service organizations and individuals. However, if you missed Titan Games Series this year, do not worry because the organizers hope to bring it back next year, in a bigger and better form!
