Navy arrests six suspects with crystal meth, cannabis, heroin

The Navy apprehended six suspects with crystal methamphetamine, Kerala cannabis, and heroin during special operations conducted in North-Central and Eastern Naval Commands during the past couple of days.

Accordingly, North-Central Naval Command, in coordination with the Mannar Police, arrested three suspects with 49.49g of crystal methamphetamine and 2.44g of heroin. The arrest was made during a combined search carried out in Karisal, Mannar, on November 18.

In another search conducted in Erukkulampiddi on November 16, the Navy serized about 1.941kg of Kerala cannabis hidden in two plastic bottles, in the bushes of a deserted place in the area.

Meanwhile, at the 4th-Mile Post in Trincomalee, the Eastern Naval Command and STF personnel in Sardhapura collared two individuals with 500g of Kerala cannabis during a search carried out on November 10.

Another suspect was held with 100g of Kerala cannabis in his possession during a search operation conducted in Sirimapura, Trincomalee, on November 14.

The accused held during these operations were residents of Mannar, Madurankuliya, Trincomalee, and China Bay; they are between the ages of 18 to 44 years. Meanwhile, the suspects, together with the seized narcotics, were handed over to police stations in Mannar, Uppuweli, and Trincomalee for further action.
