Another milestone for country’s economic progress - Keheliya

With the signing for the first ever FDI to the Hambantota Port Zone, we head towards another milestone to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy as per the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s election manifesto ‘Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour’ (Saubhagyaye Dakma), said Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

He further stated that the tripartite agreement between the BOI, Hambantota International Port and Shandong Haohua Tire Company is a USD 300 million investment.

“Sri Lanka is to benefit from 2000+ direct employment, and 25 million car and truck tire capacity per annum for export. The plant will utilize 12O+ acres of land at the Port Zone. An output of over 20,000 containers is to be shipped via the port mainly to South Asian and MENA markets. This investment will develop not just the port industry but also the rubber and plantation industry as well. The supply of high quality natural rubber will essentially contribute to stabilizing the price of local rubber,” he added.
