Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Namal Rajapaksa said that since there is growing popularity for short films in Jaffna, he intends to organise a ‘Jaffna Short Film Festival’ soon.
“Short films are a popular film medium in Jaffna; through the National Youth Services Council, we plan to organise a Jaffna Short Film Festival and a National Short Film Festival. The event will also give the much-needed cultural inputs to the region.”
He added that the North and East have a lot of potential regarding sports, tourism, and culture shows a lot of potential development in these aspects. Rajapaksa said that in addition, they have planned several Sports and Tourism events in both, the North and the East.
“In January, there will be a sports leadership programme in Kilinochchi.”
In addition, several training programmes to train youth in Tourism, too, would be held, while selected sport coaching camps would be held in both North and East.
