COVID recoveries increase to 14,069

The number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in the country has increased to 14,069 with 479 more recoveries reported yesterday.

According to the statistics of the Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit, 5,619 patients are under medical observation. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases detected from the country reached 19,771 by yesterday morning.

The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 (NCOPCO) stated that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 16,248 by yesterday morning.

Of them, 3,059 were from the Minuwangoda cluster and all other 13,189 were from the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster. Meanwhile, 10,024 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from both Minuwangoda and fish market clusters have been discharged from hospitals.

To-date, 83 COVID-19 positive deaths have been reported including 9 deaths reported on Saturday (21) from Colombo 2, Wellampitiya, Dematatgoda, Colombo 10, Colombo 13, Wellawatte and Wattala.

As of yesterday morning (22), 4,193 persons in 39 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Around 10,514 PCR tests were carried out on Saturday.
