Random antigen tests find COVID positive cases

A total of 940 rapid antigen tests were carried out at 11 points in the Western Province yesterday alone, out of which 16 individuals were found to be COVID-19 positive.

This resulted in nearly 195 of their close associates being sent to quarantine centers.

Rapid antigen testing have been done at 11 outlets in the Western Province from December 18 while the Health Department has decided to carry out the tests until January 5. The Police Media Spokesman said that random antigen tests are being carried out not only at the exits of the Western Province but also at various places. The reason for these rapid antigen tests is the prevalence of the COVID-19 virus carriers in the western province. He said these measures were in place to ensure that the disease is contained.
