COVID-19 cases in the Southern Province rose to 1,104 by Saturday (2), Southern Province COVID-19 Information Coordinating Centre said.
Thirty three cases were reported from the Southern Province on Saturday (02). Of them, 22 have been reported from the Hambantota District. Nine have been reported from the Matara District, while two have been detected from the Galle District
Two cases, each from Weliwitiya–Divitura and Elpitiya have been reported from the Galle District yesterday making the total 607. The Matara District reported 358 cases, while the Hambantota District recorded 102 with 21 new cases from the Weeraketiya MOH Division. About 3,080 persons of 1,309 families have been on quarantine in the Southern Province. Of them, 1,615 of 730 families have been in the Galle District, the Matara District has 1,040 people of 305 families on quarantine and 425 of 74 families in the Hambantota District have been on Quaratine, the Centre said.
