Orugodawatta - Ambatale Road reconstruction to be completed in four months - Minister

Highways Minister Jonston Fernando said yesterday that rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Orugodawatta - Ambatale Road (B435) will be completed within the next four months.

The Minister made these remarks after inspecting construction work of the road yesterday.

Minister Fernando made a sudden inspection on receiving a tip-off that construction work was progressing at a slow phase.

Construction work on the 7.7 km long Orugodawatta-Ambatale Road commenced in 2013.

The section will be redeveloped into four lanes at a cost of Rs.3,471 million under two stages by two contractors.

One contractor is vested with the construction of two sections, including the Orugodawatta-Wennawtta and Kotikawatta-Angoda junction. The other contractor will redevelop two sections, including the Wennawatte-Kotikawatta and Angoda junction-Ambathale junction.
