‘Those without face masks face COVID tests’

Individuals who do not wear face masks in public places will be subjected to Rapid Antigen Tests or PCR tests from yesterday, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said that in addition, legal action will be carried out against such people.

The decision was made since those who are not wearing a face mask may put other individuals at risk. Police have so far arrested 2,172 persons for not wearing face masks and for not keeping social distance.

He added that Random Rapid Antigen tests at fish stalls in the Western Province will continue, and those at vegetable stalls, weekly fairs and economic centres will be subjected to random testing from yesterday.
