Forty-seven ‘Sisu Seriya’ buses to be deployed on January 11

Arrangements have been made to deploy 47 ‘Sisu Seriya’ buses on January 11, in line with the reopening of schols, Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Ruhuna Regional Manager Prabath Kumara told the Daily News.

According to quarantine rules, buses can only carry passengers on a limited number of seats. Additional buses will be deployed to accommodate those who are waiting on roads for long periods of time, he said.

At present, there are about 390 SLTB buses running daily in the Southern Province; steps will be taken to operate buses according to the needs of the passengers. In addition, a special programme has been launched at 11 depots in the province to increase the productivity of SLTB bus employees, Kumara added.
