Following the recent death of a person infected with the Coronavirus in Puwakpitiya in the Galewela Health Division, another nine cases were identified during the PCR tests conducted in the area last week.
Among the infected are a Grama Seva Niladhari and a Samurdhi Development Officer in the Puwakpitiya area, health officials said.
Meanwhile, 39 individuals in the area have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Of them, 29 fully recovered.
In the meantime, health authorities have also sent 85 close associates of Corona patients for self-quarantine. Moreover, officials also pointed out that the highest number of Coronavirus infections in the area has been identified in Puwakpitiya in the Galewela Health Division. These officers have also taken steps to expedite the PCR testing programme.
