AG’s Dept. will not pursue case against Pillayan

The Attorney General informed the Batticaloa High Court yesterday that it will not pursue the case filed against former Chief Minister of the Eastern Province MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan and four others in connection with the murder of former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingam.

The case was taken up before Batticaloa High Court Judge T. Susaidasan yesterday.

At the request of the Attorney General, the Batticaloa High Court would deliver its decision on the next step to be taken in the case tomorrow.

Former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham was assassinated on December 25, 2005 at St. Mary’s Church in Batticaloa.

Former Eastern Province Chief Minister MP Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan, former Member of the Provincial Council Pradeep Master alias Edwin Silva Kirushanthan Raja, Kanahanayagam alias ‘Kajan Mama’ and Army Intelligence Officer Madushanka (Vinod) were arrested and remanded in connection with the assassination in 2015 and released on November 24, 2020 on bail.
