Heavy rains submerge many parts in Batticaloa

Several areas in the Batticaloa District have been inundated by heavy rains yesterday.

Sinna Urani, Iruthayapuram, Mamangam, Karuveppankerny, Kokkuvil, Panichchaiyadi, Pilliyaradi, Thisaweerasingam Square, Kallady, Nochchimunai, Navatkudha, Nochchimunai, and Manchanthoduwai in the district have been inundated severely affecting a high number of residents.

The Batticaloa District Secretariat is providing relief to the affected people. Residents find it difficult to buy essential goods since shops of the area have been closed.
