Sri Lanka youth cap and skipper of Trinity first XI Cricket team of last season Ruvin Peiris led his school to an excellent season with his exemplary leadership.

Right arm fast bowler and skipper Ruvin Peiris took 36 wickets with 3 five wicket hauls in the last season of 2019/20 of under 19 division One inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

The lads from Kandy registered eight outright victories and four first innings wins in 15 matches.

They had outright wins against Nalanda, Colombo (Sanga - Mahela trophy), Lumbini, Colombo, Zahira, Colombo, St. Joseph Vaz, Wennappuwa. Richmond, Galle, St. Sebastian’s, Moratuwa, Ananda, Colombo and St. Servatius', Matara. Trinity earned the highest points of the two day tournament, highest outright wins and advanced to the quarter finals before the COVID 19 outbreak.

Ruvin Peiris was born on 22nd September 2000. He was admitted to Trinity College Kandy in 2006.

He commenced Cricket under coaches Harold Ranasinghe and Indika Fernando in 2009. He represented under 13 ‘C’ teams in 2010 and 2011.

He represented under 13 teams in 2012 and 2013. He was appointed as the captain of the under 13 ‘A’ team in 2013. and awarded the best bowlers prize for under 13 team in the Trinity college prize giving in 2013.

He represented the under 15 ‘A’ team in 2014. He was the vice captain of Trinity College under 15 ‘A’ team in 2015.

He scored more than 250 runs and claimed more than 25 wickets. His best bowling figures were 7 wickets for 11 runs against Kegalu Vidyalaya.

He was adjudged best bowler in under 15 team at Trinity College prize giving. He represented the Kandy district under 15 team in the Prima Champions trophy inter district tournament in 2015.

He represented the college under 17 teams in 2016 and 2017 leading the team in 2017.

He made his 1st XI debut under the captaincy of Shangeeth Shanmuganathan in the season of 2016/2017. He claimed more than 30 wickets in the season of 2017/2018. His best bowling performance was 8 wickets for 22 against Moratu Maha Vidyalaya.

Trinity were the runner up of the under 19 Two day tournament in the same season. He claimed 26 wickets in 10 matches in the season of 2018/19. He missed many school matches due to National duty and injury.

He made his big match debut in the 101st Battle of the Blues against their arch rivals St. Anthony’s College Katugastota in 2018. He claimed 4 wickets for 36.

He claimed 2 for 19 runs at the 37th One day encounter against St. Anthony’s College Katugastota. He represented the Central Province under 19 team in the inter provincial tournament in 2018. He was awarded school colours in 2018.

He made his Sri Lanka under 19’s Youth ODI debut against India under 19’s in 2018.

He was picked as a member of the Sri Lanka under 19 squad for the three day games against Australia U19’s in 2019. He made his Sri Lanka under 19 test debut in 2019.

He claimed 2 wickets for 40 runs before being ruled out of the game with an ankle injury.

Ruvin was appointed as Captain of the Kandy team in the under 19 super provincial cricket tournament in 2019.and was awarded Trinity College ‘’Cricket Lion”.

He passed G.C.E. O/L Examination (Sri Lanka) with 7 A’s and 2 B’s in 2016 He passed Perason EdexCel International Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level in October 2018 with A, B and C.

He was Prefect of Trinity College Kandy in 2019. He was a member of the Trinity Swimming team from 2008-2011 Swimming is his first sport in the school.

He represented Trinity under 14 Rugger ‘B’ team in 2014 and was a member of the Trinity Junior Athletics Team in the 2007-2010 period.

He was picked for the Sri Lanka under 19 tour of Bangladesh in October 2019.

He represented Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club in the Premier under 23 tournament in 2020.
