A 24-year-old person has begun a protest on a 216-feet tall telecommunication tower in Udugampola, demanding to repatriate his wife from Jordan.
His wife has migrated to Jordan for a job a few years back. He said that she had been imprisoned during the last nine months.
A letter in this regard was handed over to the Foreign Relations Ministry seeking its assistance to bring her back but the officials had informed him that he has to pay Rs. 400,000 to bring her back, he said.
He works as a casual worker in the fishing industry, so he does not have the money to bring his wife home. “I will not come down until my demand is met,” he says.
