Boossa Lanka Sathosa Stores Manager suspended for neglecting duties

Trade Minister Dr. Bandula Gunewardena ordered the suspension of the Boossa Lanka Sathosa Stores Manager after a stock of tea packs which was to be released for sale at a concessionary price was found stored at one of the company’s warehouses, the Trade Ministry stated in a press release, yesterday.

The minister took this decision after visiting the warehouse complex on a sudden inspection tour. The stock of tea consists of 100g packets provided by the State Trading Corporation which were to be sold to the public immediately at a discount of Rs.30.

It was found stored next to a stock of laundry soap that had also not been released to the market on time, the statement read.

Dr. Gunewardena called for an investigation into the matter and said that stern action would be taken against any official engaged in fraudulent or irresponsible activities, the press release added.
