FERNANDO,​ PHILIP (Former Deputy Editor and Journalist at Daily News and Sunday Observer,​ Lake House,​ Colombo,​ Sri Lanka). It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing away of Philip Fernando,​ born on May 1st 1934 in Sri Lanka and the eldest son of Anna Fernando and Cyril Mathias (CM) Fernando. He spent his first 43 years in Sri Lanka,​ and the next 43 years in the USA. He passed away peacefully at home in Torrance,​ California on January 14th 2021 and is now in the loving arms of Jesus. Philip was preceded in death by his mother and father and his youngest brother Thilak. He is survived by his younger brother Cassian (Cynthia) and sister Sumana (Leslie) and sister-in-law,​ Shyamila,​ all residing in Moratuwa. He is survived by his beloved wife,​ Celine,​ two sons Ranil (Noely) and Mahen (Thilini) and three daughters,​ Anne Samarawickrama (Prasanna),​ Melissa Gunawardena (Sanjay) and Marlie Abrahams (Andrew) and eight grandchildren (Tyler,​ Kyle,​ Isabella,​ Matthew,​ Samantha,​ Dylan,​ Sasha and Emily) all residing in USA.
