Vocational training for 4,395 Central Province youth

Four thousand three hundred and ninenty-five youth in the Central Province will be provided with vocational training to be recruited to various state institutions, Multi-Development Task Force Director-General Maj. Gen. Nanda Mallawaarachchi said.

He was speaking at a progress review meeting of the project, which was chaired by Central Province Chief Secretary Gamini Rajarathna. The Major General said that the state insitutions youth would be assigned to include ministries, provincial councils, and divisional secretariats. However, he added that applicants have to be those who are living in poverty.

The Task Force Director-General said those who complete their training would receive Level-3 NVQ certificates, and that the programme is scheduled to end this June. He also thanked Central Province Governor Lalith U. Gamage for his support for the project. Chief Secretary Rajarathna said that the programme would be accelerated to develop the province’s agriculture, roads, and health services.
