916 COVID-19 patients recovered

916 more individuals recovered from COVID-19 bringing the total recoveries in the country to 58,075, the Epidemiology Unit confirmed.

According to the epidemiology unit there are only 5,766 active cases being treated in various hospitals across the country.

The total count of positive coronavirus cases found in Sri Lanka currently sits at 64,157.

The country has also witnessed 316 deaths from the virus.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka reached 58,075, the Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit stated.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19-positive cases detected in the country has reached 64,157, and 6,682 of them are still under medical care. The Health Ministry stated that 59,154 persons have been vaccinated with the Oxford-AstraZeneca ‘Covishield’ vaccine so far.

Under the first phase of the programme, vaccination took place at six major hospitals in the Western Province, including the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Colombo National Hospital, Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Mulleriyawa Base Hospital, and the Homagama Base Hospital.

Nearly 150,000 health workers and 120,000 Tri-Forces and police personnel at the frontline of COVID-19 prevention operations are to receive the vaccine before it is given to the elderly afterwards.
