Tea planting expanded in Badulla

Tea will be grown over 50 acres in Badulla to expand small tea estates.

Tea Small Holdings Development Authority (TSHDA) Officials said that several families in the Lunugala Divisional Secretariat area have been selected for growing tea.

The families in Arawakumbura, Alakolagala, Uda Panguwa, Janathapura, Maduwatta, Metigahathenna, Millabedda and Suriyagoda will benefit from the programme.

Tea plants will be provided free by the Government. They will be encouraged to grow ginger, cardamom, cloves, coffee, areca nut and lemongrass as well.
