No adverse reactions from COVID jab so far - Minister

No adverse reactions or side-effects have so far been reported by nearly 100,000 people who were vaccinated with the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVISHIELD vaccine in Sri Lanka since last Friday. Co-Cabinet Spokesman

Plantation Minister Dr Ramesh Pathirana told journalists at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held at the Government Information Department that vaccination of 95,550 persons had been completed by Monday evening (1).

The Minister said that although nearly 100,000 people have been vaccinated so far, no side effects or allergies have been reported so far. He added that on average, about 2% of any vaccine can cause minor allergies, including fever and pain.

The Minister said they expect to import about five million vaccines to Sri Lanka and that there was no fear in obtaining the vaccine.
