Janith Chinthana has brought honour and fame to his school

Twelve year old Athlete, Volleyball Player and Karate Green Belt holder Janith Chinthana Senanayake has brought honour and fame for his school President’s College Nattandiya. He was admitted to President’s College in 2014 and the then Principal was W. D. Dharmasena and his first class teacher was Mrs. M. Nalini.

When he was in primary section in 2017 he participated in the Inter House Sports Meet and in the under 10 age group he came second in Long Jump and won the Ziq-Zaq Race and at the Zonal Meet he won the Long Jump and the Ziq-Zaq Event and in 2018 he was in the Kids Athletics Team and his team came second and at the Zonal Meet they repeated the same performance. In 2019 competing in the under 12 age group at the school athletic meet he came third in 80 metres and in Long Jump and in Kids Events his team won and at the Zonal meet too they won and participating at the All Island Meet in Kandy they won a Gold Medal and at the John Tarbet Meet in the same year competing in the under 12 Inter School 4x100 relay event his team received Merit Certificate and his coaches were Sandun Tissera and Oshani Priyankara.

Janith did not continue athletics and as he was interested in Karate his parents Chaminda Senanayake and Deepani Chandrika Manathunga admitted him to ISKU Karate Academy in 2017 and Janith came under Sugath Kumara and at the same time he joined the School Karate Squad and came under Sachin Tissera. In the same year representing the Karate Club at the Puttalam District meet he won a Bronze Medal and in 2018 he was awarded the Green Belt and in 2019 District Meet he received a Merit in Kumite and with these performances under his belt he was selected to ISKU Tour of , India in 2019 he received a Merit for participation and it was a fine exposure for him and in the same year at the Sri Lanka ISKU Meet he won a Silver Medal for Kumite in the under 12 age group and got a Certificate for Kata for participation. Last year at the Puttalam District Karate – Do – Meet in the under 12 age category he received Merits for Kumite and Kata Events.

In the mean time he was selected to the under 12 school volleyball team under Asoka Indika and in the Puttalam District under 11 DSI Tournament his school came second and in the All Island under 11 DSI Tournament they were the Runners Up in 2019.
