Magistrates of Kalmunai, Pottuvil, and Akkaraipattu have banned the Tamil National Alliance’s (TNA’s) planned demonstration from Pottuvil to Polikandy along the Jaffna – Pottuvil Road in the Trincomalee District.
Police personnel from Kalmunai, Kaluwanchikudy, and Thirukkovil had requested the banning of the march on the grounds that it would incite violence.
The courts have also taken into consideration the potential spread of COVID-19 when banning the march.
