Call to inoculate lottery sellers

The National Lotteries Board (NLB) yesterday wrote to Chief of Defence Staff, Army Commander and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) General Shavendra Silva requesting him to give priority to its distributors and sales assistants in obtaining the COVID-19 vaccine.

The letter noted that the NLB, which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance, is a unique institution that makes a significant contribution to Government revenue through the Consolidated Fund.

The letter further states that the NLB’s sales network plays a vital role and if there is a risk of a COVID-19 spread among its vendors, it could affect millions of customers, disrupt sales and adversely affect daily Government revenue.

There are nearly 20,000 lottery sellers affiliated to the NLB.
